チョン・ヒョンジは、スイス・ローザンヌのECAL でラグジュアリー＆クラフツマンシップを専攻したのち、オランダ・アイントホーフェンでテキスタイルのアトリエを始めました。彼女は韓国の伝統的なテキスタイル工芸に深い関心を抱き、その研究を通して、それらを現代的な言語で再解釈しています。色、形、質感をさまざまな方法で探求し、伝統と現代の調和を実現しています。彼女の作品は、二次元と三次元の境界を超える表現を目指しています。

Hyunjee Jung

Hyunjee Jung graduated in Luxury & Craftsmanship from ECAL(Lausanne, Switzerland) and started her textile atelier in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. With a deep fascination for and study of traditional Korean textile crafts, she reinterprets these traditions into her own contemporary language. Jung explores colors, forms, and textures in different ways by which harmony of tradition and contemporary is achieved. Her practice transcends the boundaries between two and three dimensions.

チョン・ヒョンジは、反復のプロセスを通じて作品の形を構築します。このプロジェクトでは、庵治石にまっすぐで均一な線を配し、石のありのままの質感と繊細で軽やかな線の出会いを演出し、それらを同時に際立たせることを目指しています。この硬く重い石に細い線を施すことで、庵治石にさらに対照的な要素をもたらします。直角の線を繰り返し彫刻することで、もともと一塊の石が積み重ねられたレンガで構成されているかのような錯覚を生み出します。これらのレンガは、日常生活の装飾品としても、ブックエンドなどの重量が必要とされる場面での機能的なオブジェとしても役立ちます。

Hyunjee Jung builds the form of her work through a process of repetition. In this project, she projects straight, even lines onto the AJI stone, creating an encounter between the stone’ s natural texture and the delicate, lightweight lines, aiming to highlight the distinct qualities of both simultaneously. Applying these fine lines to the hard, heavy stone introduces an additional contrast within the AJI stone. Repeated engraving of right-angled lines on its surface creates the illusion that the stone, originally a solid mass, is structurally composed of stacked bricks. These bricks can serve as both decorative objects in daily life and functional objects in places that demand weight, such as bookends.
