庵治石を建材や墓石として使用するために、加工する工程でおのずと出る端材をそのままに、ひとつの彫刻と捉え「READY MADE」コレクションとして展示します。そのコレクションに新しい役割を与えるのは、見る人、使う人次第です。たとえば、円柱を抜き出して残った穴の空いた端材を持ち帰って、そのまま傘立てや花入れに「見立て」ることもあるかもしれません。 英語で石のことをストーン、あるいはロックと言います。ロックには動詞として何かを着こなす、使いこなすという意味もあります。庵治石を使いこなす。それは使い手次第なのです。
In the process of shaping Aji stone for use in construction and gravestones, offcuts naturally occur. These offcuts, treated as individual sculptures. are displayed as part of the “READY MADE” collection. The new purpose these pieces take on is given by those who view and use them. For example, a piece of offcut with a hole left after removing a cylindrical section could be taken home and reimagined as an umbrella stand or a flower vase. In English, stone is referred to as “stone” or “rock.” Interestingly, “rock” as a verb can also mean to wear something with style or master something. To “rock” Aji stone means to make it one’s own, and that ultimately depends on the user.
